We are the Kirby’s and live in Anderson, South Carolina, are empty nesters, but blessed to have all of our immediate family only minutes down the road. After 15+ years working in the cancer and medical field, I became a stay-at-home mother and since all of our children have left the house I am a “domestic engineer”.
My husband of 30+ years, works in the market department of the USPS with large mailing houses. Our breeding dogs consists of Layla (Red Merle Dame) and Walker (Black Tri w/ Red Factor Sire), our retired Sire Obie, our daughter's dog Farryn who comes to visit us monthly, and Padme our special needs puppy. We say that if you have one Australian Shepherd, you can handle a second one, and if you get a second one you need a third one to really enjoy them. If you're like us, you need four or five Australian Shepherd.
Our dogs are our family and are inside dogs that have a fenced in backyard to play till the sun sets and sleep with us or next to our beds at night. Our puppies are birthed, raised, and cared for inside our bedroom. Why do we mention this? Because perception and reality about how and where some Dames and their puppies are raised is blurred. Our family doesn't live in a pen or birthing box outside, nor will our furry family members.
