If you have come to this part our website, we believe you’ve done your due diligence to learn about this amazing breed, Australian Shepherds. It is important for us to make sure you know about who this dog is before we let it become part of your family.

We want you to get an Australian Shepherd, there is no better dog to us. But we would be derelict in our duties as Australian Shepherd breeders if we didn't make sure that our puppies, who are going to grow up to be dogs, are going into the right homes and personalities.

This breed is super intelligent with a highly motivated desire to be given a purpose. Early training is imperative, to lay a base level foundation for helping them create their personality. They are referred to as a, Velcro Dog, this breed becomes your shadow and they dedicate their lives to being around you. This breed needs you to complete them.

Fur bunnies on the floor, if you don't know what they are, you will when you own an Australian Shepherd. This is a “working breed” with a double layer coat and they shed. This double coat works as an insulator to help regulate their body temperature in both the heat and cold. Shaving them is a HUGE NO NO, brushing is needed weekly, only sanitary trims at the tail end are acceptable. Just like all working dogs they “blow their coat” in the spring and fall which produces even more fur on the floor if you do not attend to them, but this just lasts a few days.

They are a herding breed. They will herd you, cats, dogs, chickens, kids, and even their toys which roll. As a herder, they have a natural desire to “nip” at legs or ankles, which with livestock causes the livestock to move a certain direction and is desirable. This is not a desirable trait for house pets and is something we at Circle K Aussies and with our own dog's breeders have tried to reduce through the breeding process and training. A nip is considered a bit to the dog catcher, so watch the herding tendency.

Pricing

Pricing is for AKC Pet with Limited Registration and with this we strongly suggest owners Spay/Neuter their dogs in a timeframe that you and your Veterinarian agree upon.  The puppy/dog will have a better temperament, longer life, and you will reduce the chances of accidental litters.

Tri's (Red or Black) $1000

Merle's (Red or Blue) $1300

Deposit (Non-Refundable) is $200 and is deducted from the total sales price. The order of first selection will be based off, first deposit equals first choice.   See Tails and Dewclaws, on the deposit policy and amount for UN-docked tails if allowed to happen.
Full balance is due when you take ownership of your puppy.
Full Breeding Rights/Full Registration is an additional $750 above pricing. We reserve the right to refuse breeding rights, and to obtain, it must be discussed prior to purchase. Breeding Rights are NOT A GIVEN. This is done to ensure owners have the experience and knowledge needed to raise a healthy breed line and how to go about doing this.

You've got a Puppy!

Puppies will be allowed to go to their forever homes after 8 weeks, but we will gladly spoil your puppy till 10 weeks if you have extenuating circumstances that would prevent you from getting your puppy.  After 10 weeks, will charge a boarding fee of $10 per day and any vaccination and deworming costs during their stay. We do not ship our puppies, but will drive half way to meet you for a $25 per hour travel fee to give you your puppy!

Visiting your Puppy!

You can come and visit your puppy after 4 weeks of age, but not until 6 weeks (after they have received their first Parvo shot) will you be allowed to hold your puppy. Parvo is a silent killer that can unknowingly be brought in by visitor’s shoes/clothing and be passed on to the mother and/or the other puppies. We know you understand, they are our family and protect them until they become part of your family.

All visits are by appointment only. During the 4-to-6-week period, we will gladly show you the puppies at our home, but visitors are not allowed to handle or pet them; see Parvo above. Also, Mom’s are still protective of their puppies during this period and generally only allow one or two humans near them.

Health and wellness

Puppies will be given all necessary age-based vaccinations and de-worming’s before going to their new home. You need to make a veterinarian appointment within 3 days of receiving your puppy. You are expected to follow through with all other necessary shots, de-worming’s, and veterinarian visits with your puppy. These first few months are the most important as they are susceptible to so many things and need you to be their everything.

Heartworm prevention medicine is strongly recommended around the age of 8 – 10 weeks of age. This not only will prevent Heartworm infections, but is used to control typical worms and flea life cycles. During your Vet visit, casually remind or simply ask your Vet about the sensitivities Australian Shepherds have to some medications, including Heartworm meds. Tick & Flea medication is also recommended and you should discuss what options you have, as there as so many products on the market that are ever changing. These pills/treats do add up in cost, but don’t go cheap. You have made an investment of your money and your heart to your Australian Shepherd puppy, make sure you invest in keeping her/him safe and healthy.

We do genetic testing on our adult Furry Babies to ensure that we are improving the breed’s genetics and not duplicating or risking genetic imperfections.

Tails and dewclaws

AKC breed standards require that Australian Shepherds have their tails docked. While we are not apposed to leaving them on, we will only do this on a limited basis. We have seen what can happen with herding and farming dogs that don’t have a docked tail as a puppy. It’s incredibly painful if it gets caught and it’s worse having to dock as an adult. If we do allow a puppy to have an UN-docked tail, and you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total puppy price. If any event or change of mind causes the puppy to not go home with the family that reserved an UN-docked tail, all money is forfeited from the deposit, PERIOD!

Note: Not all puppies are born with long tail, some are born with a Natural Bob Tail (NBT). My girl Layla is a NBT. It’s rare but it does happen.

Dewclaws are always removed from all of our puppies for their safety and yours.

Blue eyes

Those piercingly adorable Blue eyes. Sorry, but they are not a guarantee for any dog. Typically, after 8 weeks of age, if blue, the blue eyes will remain. Again, it’s not a sure thing. We do not hold/allow selection based off of eye color.

Going home bags

We want to make sure that the transition from our home to your home goes as smooth as possible. We send your puppy home with some Purina Pro Plan Puppy food that we feed our own with, a toy, treats, collar and leash, and most importantly a blanket. The blanket is from the whelping box/play pen, where the familiar smells of Mom and the other puppies are present. All these changes that are about to happen, it can be a bit disorienting to your puppy. Their most powerful sense, smell, is what we use to help them. They will be able to detect the soothing scents of Mom and the other liter mates. It’s their “woobie” or security blanket, will protect them as they grow up, and get used to their new home surrounds.

Along with the above, we will provide and complete their AKC registration paperwork, buyer purchase agreement, and health records of shots and de-worming’s (take to the first Veterinarian visit).
